Job summary

Jefferson Health's Honickman Center in Center City seeks a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join the intraoperative team. This full-time days role supports the pre-, intra-, and post-operative phases and helps maintain a sterile field and a safe operating room.

Responsibilities include assisting the surgical team, prepping instruments, ensuring counts, decontamination duties, and serving as a preceptor to staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of a surgical technician training program.
• Ability to convey respect and collaborate with patients, families, and partners.
• Knowledge of diverse backgrounds and effective communication with patients and care partners.
• Ability to communicate concepts clearly and engage patients and families in care.
• Attention to accuracy and detail in clinical settings.
• Familiarity with industry standards, policies, and procedures relevant to the role.
• Knowledge of equipment and devices used in healthcare settings.
• Knowledge of surgical assistance techniques and relevant safety standards.
• Awareness of policies and management methods to optimize OR efficiency.
• BLS and CST/TS-C credentials.

Responsibilities

• Recognizes patients and families and supports coordinated, respectful care.
• Inspects OR for cleanliness, sets up equipment, and participates in safety checks.
• Assists with gowning/gloving and preparing sterile fields; reports on procedure status.
• Counts sharps, sponges, and instruments; maintains sterile field integrity and cleans instruments.
