Job summary

Jefferson Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join the intraoperative team in Sewell, New Jersey. This role supports preoperative, intraoperative, and post-operative care, maintaining a sterile field and anticipating surgeon needs with expertise in anatomy and procedures.

The CST will collaborate with perioperative staff, assist with decontamination, and precept other team members, ensuring patient safety and high-quality care across diverse patient populations.

Qualifications

• Candidate must have completed a surgical technician training program and be able to convey respect and collaborate with patients and families.
• Knowledge of diverse patient populations and the ability to communicate effectively.
• Understanding of safety standards, sterile technique, and operating room procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by cleaning and arranging instruments and supplies.
• Assist with gowning and gloving of the surgical team and maintain sterile field integrity.
• Provide thorough handoff reports and communicate status of the procedure to relief personnel.
• Count sharps, sponges, and instruments with the circulating nurse and ensure accurate counts.
• Serve as primary preceptor to other surgical team members as needed.
