Job summary

Nicklaus Children's Health System is seeking a Scheduling Coordinator to ensure timely scheduling of surgical/procedural cases and to coordinate efforts across impacted departments while optimizing resource use.

The role involves inputting case information into Surginet, coordinating across departments to maximize block utilization, and delivering daily schedules to physician offices and OR management. Strong MS Office and medical terminology knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years experience in an office setting.
• Associates Degree preferred.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to learn appropriate software applications.

Responsibilities

• Inputs surgical/procedure/patient case information into Surginet appointment book.
• Coordinates surgical/procedural schedules across departments to maximize block utilization.
• Provides daily preliminary and final printed schedules to physician offices and departments.
• Collaborates with credentialed surgeons and offices to schedule non-block cases into open times.
• Manages block schedules (releases, block dates in Compass).
• Serves as subject matter expert on scheduling coordination for all surgical service areas.
• Provides education on proper scheduling practices to after-hours scheduling staff.
• Coordinates regular meetings with physician offices to improve scheduling process.
• Assists surgical services managers with UKG edits as needed.
• Runs daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports as assigned.
