Job summary

Penn Medicine in Philadelphia is seeking a Surgical Services Associate for the Surgery Outpatient Transplant HUP unit. The role coordinates patient activity for outpatient visits and surgeries, triages calls, and schedules procedures, tests, and admissions as needed.

Responsibilities include handling pre-operative authorizations, processing surgical billing and correspondence, and ensuring timely communication with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma/GED (Required).
• 2+ years medical office experience, or 2 years of customer service experience.
• Related clinical office experience preferred.
• Prior customer service or insurance verification experience in healthcare settings may be considered advantageous.
• A degree may be considered in lieu of some experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet, screen, schedule and direct patients in a prompt, positive manner.
• Serve as primary contact for assigned patients.
• Retrieve and process incoming medical records/images and ensure physician review.
• Ensure necessary testing and evaluations are completed before visits.
• Assist attending physicians with patient relations and scheduling during outpatient hours.
