Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Surgical Services Associate for the Surgery Outpatient Transplant HUP unit. You will coordinate patient activity for outpatient visits and surgical procedures, triage calls, and schedule surgeries, tests, admissions, and authorizations.

Strong customer service and clinical office experience are essential. The role includes billing support, medical records processing, and communications with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years medical office experience or 2 years of customer service experience.
• Related clinical office experience required.
• Prior customer service or insurance verification experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• A degree may be considered in lieu of some experience.

Responsibilities

• Greets, screens, schedules and directs patients in a prompt, positive, pleasant, and helpful manner at all times.
• Acts as primary point of contact for assigned patients.
• Coordinate and schedule cases with medical equipment representatives as required in the OR.
• Ensure diagnostic testing and other evaluations are completed before visits.
• Process medical records requests and prior authorizations.
• Billing duties: ensure operative reports and encounter forms are submitted for billing within designated timeframes.
