Job summary

Penn Medicine’s Ophthalmology Outpatient Admin team is seeking a Surgical Services Associate to coordinate patient activity for outpatient visits and surgeries at the Scheie Eye Institute South Jersey location. You’ll triage calls, manage messages, schedule procedures, obtain authorizations, and handle surgical billing and correspondence with care and professionalism.

The role supports surgeons and APPs, ensuring smooth daily operations and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience or equivalent experience required.
• Experience in medical office environment preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Greets, screens, schedules and directs patients in a prompt, positive, pleasant, and helpful manner.
• Retrieves and processes medical records/images; coordinates tests and pre-op activities.
• Schedules surgeries, diagnostic tests, outpatient appointments and admissions; obtains authorizations.
• Handles billing processes and correspondence related to surgical cases.
