Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc. seeks an experienced Surgical Scheduling Coordinator to manage routine and complex operative case scheduling in a high-volume setting.

You will coordinate with providers, offices, and OR staff to optimize the surgical timetable and ensure smooth patient flow. Key responsibilities include training scheduling staff, implementing best practices, and addressing patient questions about pre-op and post-op steps.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in surgical scheduling, administration, or healthcare management.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in scheduling software and EHR systems (EPIC).
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and insurance processes.
• Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate routine and complex operative case scheduling.
• Communicate with clinical staff to align times between offices and OR.
• Develop contingency plans to minimize disruptions to the schedule.
• Train and educate scheduling staff on MCP practice standards.
• Provide patient-focused guidance on pre/post-op instructions and scheduling.
• Utilize EPIC/OpTime for scheduling and referal/pre-certification workflows.
