Job summary

Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, LLC seeks a Surgical Scheduler to manage surgical scheduling, pre-certification, and insurance verification. The role includes coordinating referrals, arranging pre-admission testing, and handling post-operative scheduling while communicating with patients and families.

Responsibilities include maintaining the surgical calendar, processing ICD-10/CPT codes, and assisting with self-pay arrangements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or at least one year medical office experience, preferably with electronic medical records
• Associates degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Surgery Scheduling
• Coordinate the scheduling of surgical procedures for assigned surgeons in the practice
• Discuss, determine and coordinate surgical date with patient/family in accordance with physician’s schedule
• Provide patients with information: Cardiac and Medical clearance
• Schedule pre-operative and post-operative appointments including pre-admission testing
• Pre-surgical history and physical and post-op visits
• Schedule procedures with hospital/surgical center including ICD-10 and CPT codes
• Complete forms related to surgery scheduling
• Assist patients with scheduling follow-up appointments
• Notify equipment representatives of special requests
• Prepare weekly OR schedule and maintain physician's surgical calendar
• Surgical Pre-certification/Verification of Benefits
• Obtain pre-cert and benefit verification for insurance plans
• For Workers’ Compensation, contact insurer and secure authorization
• Self-Pay Arrangements
• Advise patients on self-pay requirements
• Notify Business Office about self-pay surgeries
• Ensure payment arrangements are made
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Other duties as assigned
