The Jordan-Young Institute in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler to coordinate patient flow within a busy private practice. You will serve as a liaison between patients, surgeons, and office staff, managing appointments, pre-authorizations, and records with professionalism.

This role requires strong organization, excellent communication, and proficiency with MS Office and EHR systems.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a surgery scheduler or medical secretary.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, regulations and medical office procedures; medical coding is desired.
• Familiarity with MS Office, databases and EHR systems.
• Excellent customer service with empathy and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Receive and assist patients; act as liaison between patients, surgeons and clinicians.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorization as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records including history, consent and insurance details.
• Schedule consultations and surgeries, update the calendar, coordinate staff and equipment.
• Prepare surgery packets with procedures, pre- and post-operative instructions.
• Handle calls, emails, and other admin duties, ensuring confidentiality.
