CLIENT is seeking a Surgical Scheduler in Alexandria, VA to manage scheduling of surgical procedures, ensure proper coding information is collected, and coordinate with providers, call centers, and clinics. The role emphasizes timely, accurate scheduling and collaboration across the surgical team.

The scheduler will handle pre-operative coordination, resource planning, and communication with patients to ensure smooth operations and high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and coordinates all surgical procedures, ensuring adequate time is allocated according to the physician's historical OR time slots.
• Assesses and schedules similar surgeries on dates, times, and locations to maximize OR utilization and staff efficiency.
• Coordinates special equipment, instruments, and supply requests with interdepartmental OR care teams for each surgery.
• Resolves scheduling conflicts by collaborating with the OR Clinical Coordinator or designee and obtaining missing patient information, CPT codes, and requests.
• Identifies and improves scheduling workflow deficiencies with surgeons and clinical leadership to simplify and streamline operations.
• Represents excellence in care by accurately processing all surgical scheduling in a timely and professional manner.
• Coordinates care with surgeons, co-surgeons, and first assists.
• Ensures any pre-operative exams/testing are completed prior to the surgery date and keeps patients updated on scheduling changes.
