Job summary

Advocate Health in Illinois seeks a full-time Surgical Scheduling Coordinator to coordinate scheduling of procedures between physicians, OR time, anesthesia, and support services such as X-ray, MRI, and CT. You will maintain schedules, notify providers of changes, and ensure required authorizations and documentation are obtained.

The role requires excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
• Excellent communication skills with patients, staff and physicians.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office or similar applications and email.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling of surgical procedures between physicians, OR time, anesthesia, and other departments.
• Notify providers of schedule changes and additions; adjust as needed.
• Schedule next-day and future procedures and maintain assignments; print and distribute future OR schedules.
• Obtain necessary lab work, X-rays, and History & Physical as applicable.
• Process patient charges and verify coding accuracy; review revenue and update charges as needed.
• Answer, triage, and prioritize incoming calls; support providers, staff, patients and families.
• Maintain equipment, arrange repairs, and replenish supplies as necessary.
