Job summary

Advocate Health in Illinois is seeking a part-time Scheduling Clerk for the Surgery Room at Good Samaritan Hospital. The role supports OR scheduling, patient charges, and communication with physicians and departments.

20 hours per week, M-F, with benefits eligible and a focus on accurate, timely scheduling. Responsibilities include coordinating procedures, updating schedules, obtaining required tests, and ensuring proper charge entry.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Typically requires 1 year of experience in a health care setting performing customer service functions such as scheduling, registration, insurance authorization and/or patient billing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling of surgical procedures between physicians and offices, and other departments to maximize OR utilization.
• Schedule next day and beyond surgical procedures; maintain and update surgery assignments and distribute future schedules.
• Obtain necessary lab work, x-rays, and H&P as applicable.
• Process patient charges and verify codes and charges are entered for every patient.
• Answer, screen, triage, prioritize, and determine urgency of incoming calls; serve as a resource to providers and staff.
• Operate and troubleshoot office equipment and arrange for maintenance; assist with inventory and supply orders.
