Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an RN for the NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit. This 43-bed unit focuses on acute and chronic digestive surgical patients, including bariatric-related care, trauma patients, and complex postoperative cases.

The role emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration with surgical residents, and high-quality patient outcomes. The RN will perform initial assessments, create and adjust care plans, monitor patient progress, and ensure safety.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing
• BLS certification within 30 days
• H.S. Diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

• Performs all responsibilities and duties required by unit as specific to the scope of service.
• Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
• Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops a plan of care
• Implements plan of care and nursing interventions, modifies plan based on evaluation.
• Ensures patient and employee safety by reporting safety hazards and incidents.
• Provides post-operative care for the complex surgical population and manages wounds, ostomies, and tracheostomies.
