Job summary

Carle Health’s NT7 Digestive Surgical Unit is a 43-bed unit specializing in acute and chronic digestive surgical care. The team works closely with surgical residents and attendings to provide comprehensive perioperative management for bariatric and other high-acuity cases.

This RN role supports postoperative care, wound management, ostomy care, and continuous safety. The unit includes dedicated educators and supervision to maintain high clinical standards and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN in the appropriate state
• BLS certification required within 30 days
• Experience in post-operative and high-acuity surgical units preferred
• Strong teamwork and patient safety focus

Responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care for complex surgical patients.
• Assess and document nursing care and plan of care upon admission.
• Monitor wounds, ostomies, drains, and tracheostomies as needed.
• Collaborate with surgical residents and attendings for patient management.
• Ensure patient and staff safety, and participate in continuous quality improvement.
