Job summary

Keck Hospital of USC seeks an organized patient care coordinator to assist with scheduling, referrals, and chart preparation. You will liaise with physicians, coordinate pre-op items, and help manage patient flow through the clinic and surgical areas.

The role requires strong English communication, computer literacy, and familiarity with Cerner, PBAR, IDX, and scheduling software. Join our Surgery Department team delivering coordinated, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience in customer service and/or medical office preferred.
• 1 year experience in acute/ambulatory care or surgical center preferred.
• Excellent English communication (written and spoken).
• Familiarity with Cerner, PBAR, IDX and scheduling software preferred.
• LA City Fire Life Safety training required if not already completed.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients professionally and maintain confidentiality.
• Process referrals and gather medical records.
• Enter demographics and insurance information in systems.
• Schedule diagnostic testing and surgeries, coordinating timelines.
• Provide patient instructions and follow up communications.
• Assist multidisciplinary team as liaison between clinic and referring physicians.
• Support chart preparation and office clerical tasks.
• Cover phone lines and assist other staff as needed.
