Job summary

UC San Diego Health seeks a Surgery Coordinator to provide chief clinical and administrative support for the surgical practice. You will coordinate patient affairs, schedule procedures across OR/clinic areas, and ensure proper authorization and documentation.

You will manage communications with patients, families, and surgeons, enter data in EPIC, and support process improvements while working in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of scheduling and authorization in a hospital setting.
• Three or more years of recent surgery scheduling experience particularly with Spine Scheduling.
• Six months to one year orthopedic experience.
• Knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state and private health plans.
• Excellent communication skill and good customer service.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical schedules with the Operating Room, schedulers, pre-op clinics, anesthesia and admissions.
• Process and enter patient information in the EPIC system and ensure proper documentation.
• Communicate surgery times and locations with patients and families and with the surgeon.
• Provide clinical administrative support and cover for other surgery schedulers as needed.
• Assist clinic process improvements and work effectively in a team environment.
