Job summary

The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics LL is seeking a detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to manage physician schedules, coordinate pre- and post-operative activities, and handle patient inquiries in a fast-paced surgery department.

You will verify insurance, schedule equipment, and ensure all pre-op orders and post-op documentation are accurately completed, while maintaining regulatory compliance and providing excellent patient service.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling surgeries and managing physician schedules.
• Handling incoming calls for the surgery department and directing patient questions to the appropriate facility, provider, or department.
• Verifying insurance information for surgery.
• Ensuring adequate preparation for surgeries by scheduling equipment and procedure rooms and maintaining inventory.
• Understanding surgical procedures, including time expectations and staff needed for scheduling.
• Logging and communicating urgent information to the surgery department, providers, and facilities.
• Creating pre-op orders and sending them to the correct facility or to patients, including labs/tests as required.
• Providing updates to the surgery department about patients' scheduled surgeries.
• Managing surgical documents and entering post-surgery data into patient records.
• Assisting patients with arranging pre/post-op visits per physician protocol and discussing post-op requirements.
• Following up with post-surgical patients to answer questions and help with post-op paperwork for return to work/school.
• Maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations and CAO guidelines.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
