Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a dedicated Surgical First Assistant to join the operating room team in Wisconsin. You will support the surgeon and team by preparing the OR, ensuring sterility, and providing instrument and equipment support throughout procedures.

Ideal candidates have advanced Surgical Technology training and 3+ years of experience as a surgical technologist/assistant, with BLS certification. This role includes a 40-hour week, 6:30am-3pm with rotation for weeknights and holidays.

Qualifications

• Advanced training beyond high school in Surgical Technology.
• Typically requires 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist/Assistant.
• BLS certification required; future certification via CSFA/SA-C/CSA advised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room and supplies; assist in case setup and patient draping.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and ensure required supplies are ready before incision.
• Maintain sterile field and assist with gowning, gloving, and draping as directed.
• Ensure OR safety, equipment readiness, and reporting of any issues.
• Assist in training Surgical Technologists and new Surgical Assistants.
