Qualifications

• Certification options for Surgical First Assist, SA-C, CSA per the listed bodies.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the preparatory steps of surgery; assists operating team in gathering supplies, opening room for cases, assists in lifting, transferring, positioning, preparing and draping the patient.
• Anticipates and responds to the needs of the Surgeon, ensuring all required supplies are available before incision, recognizing preferences.
• Maintains a clean, safe and efficient area with aseptic techniques and preparation of materials and equipment for procedures.
• Ensures environmental disinfection, safety and efficiency of the operating room and assists with equipment setup and maintenance.
• Assists in training Surgical Technologists and new Surgical Assistants; participates in department and facility work teams.
