Job summary

Aurora Health Care is seeking a Surgical First Assistant to support the operating room team in Wisconsin. You will assist with preparatory steps, gather supplies, and help position the patient for procedures.

The role requires maintaining a sterile field and anticipating the surgeon's needs to ensure safe, efficient operations. Advanced training in Surgical Technology and prior Surgical Technologist experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Advanced training in Surgical Technology through an accredited program.
• Experience in a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Assistant role preferred.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required; ongoing education.
• Certification addenda may apply for ongoing hospital-based requirements.

Responsibilities

• Participates in preparatory steps of surgery; gathers supplies and opens room.
• Anticipates surgeon needs; ensures supplies available before incision.
• Maintains sterile field and performs aseptic techniques in materials and equipment.
• Sets up and moves operating room equipment; reports malfunctions.
• Trains Surgical Technologists and new Surgical Assistants as needed.
• May perform validated competencies under direct supervision; documents progress.
