Job summary

Physicians East is seeking a Surgery Coordinator/Scheduler in Greenville, NC to manage scheduling, referrals, and patient education for surgical procedures and physician appointments. This full-time role supports operatons within standard office hours and requires strong computer skills and confidentiality.

The coordinator will liaise with physicians, hospitals, and surgical centers, coordinating pre-op and post-op activities, and ensuring smooth patient flow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred.
• Experience in a medical office environment is required.
• Strong computer experience and teamwork orientation.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Acts as liaison between physicians, patient, hospital, SurgiCenter, Eastern Radiology, and other entities where surgery is performed.
• Schedule/coordinate referrals to offices both inside and outside of Physicians East.
• Schedules all surgeries, referral appointments and post-operative appointments.
• Answers calls for the department and schedules appointments.
• Educates patients regarding pre-operative instructions and consents.
• Informs the surgery facility of any special needs of the patient.
• Prepares pre-op papers for patient to take to facility at pre-op visit prior to surgery.
• Sends surgery patient to the appropriate facility for chest x-ray, EKG, and blood work.
• Cancels and reschedules surgery as needed.
• Posts surgical cases with the hospital and surgical center using Healthspan.
• Coordinates and notifies physicians of surgery schedule.
• Participates in in-service education, staff meetings, and other continuing education programs.
• Attends safety classes & compliance training as offered by Physicians East, PA.
• Works as a contributing member of a team to keep departments running smoothly.
• Performs other tasks as needed or required.
