Job summary

Texas Orthopedics, a Division of OrthoLonestar, is seeking a Surgery Scheduler/Triage to coordinate pre‑op activities and patient communications across clinics in Central Texas. You will manage scheduling of surgeries, imaging, and PT appointments, obtain pre-authorizations, maintain EMR notes, and support physicians with timely information.

This role emphasizes accuracy, empathy, and teamwork in a fast-paced orthopedic environment, with opportunities to contribute to patient care excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years as a medical assistant with hospital, home health, or office experience; orthopedics preferred.
• Two years of surgery scheduling experience preferred.
• Current CMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries, MRI/CT scans, and PT appointments; coordinate pre-op and follow-up visits.
• Submit medical records and obtain necessary pre-authorization.
• Confirm medical necessity with providers before insurance requests.
• Enter authorization numbers and dates in the EMR.
• Assist with prior-authorization, eligibility verification, and patient payment estimates.
• Issue prescriptions, PT orders, home exercise programs, and work restrictions as directed.
• Respond to patient inquiries by 4 p.m. and communicate updates the same day when possible.
• Coordinate with Surgery Coordinator/Triage Team Lead and Office Manager for training and scheduling.
• Monitor adverse events and track patient-reported outcomes as needed.
