Job summary

Retina Consultants of Carolina is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduler for our Spartanburg, SC office. This in-office role requires coordinating surgeries, pre-op instructions, and post-op follow-ups while ensuring patient satisfaction and HIPAA compliance.

The candidate will liaise with surgeons, physicians, and facilities, manage documentation, and schedule all pre/post-op visits. Monday–Friday, in-office with potential travel to other locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years experience as a surgery scheduler (preferred).
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Schedule all patient surgeries and post-op checks with clear instructions.
• Act as liaison between patient, surgeon, primary care physician, and facility for pre-operative preparations.
• Organize charts and collect information for upcoming surgeries.
• Obtain consent for surgeries and legal documentation for those who cannot speak for themselves.
• Immediately schedule all pre- and postoperative appointments and retrieve results.
• Answer telephone inquiries from patients and providers while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Obtain prior authorization as needed for surgery.
• Document referral and related communication in the patient’s EMR.
