Responsibilities

• Schedules office, surgery centers and hospital procedures, with correct provider and time/location.
• Pre-authors surgeries with insurance carriers and records authorization in the scheduling system.
• Maintains a surgical log for statistics and performance metrics.
• Distributes pre-surgical packets with date, prep instructions and patient confirmations.
• Coordinates with surgical facilities for equipment or personnel needs.
• Ensures pre-operative labs are ordered, tracked and documented in the EMR.
• Reviews appointments for accuracy against diagnoses and indications.
• Audits automated phone system daily and updates call schedules as needed.
• Verifies scheduling accuracy before publication and communicates changes.
• Interacts with surgery centers and hospital staff to maintain coordinated patient care.
• Treats patients and referring physicians with courtesy and respect in person or by phone.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with health policies and HIPAA.
• Performs other duties as assigned and supports departmental compliance.
