Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum three years of experience in health care and minimum one year in surgery scheduling preferred.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Flexible hours; able to work any shift to be covered.
• Knowledge of surgery scheduling, registration, and basic front-desk responsibilities; capable of handling stress.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries in the system with patient and physician details.
• Answer phones professionally; assist physician offices and patients as needed.
• Pre-register patients and obtain physician authorization prior to scheduled surgeries; complete registration paperwork.
• Maintain log of cancelled appointments and keep the scheduling area organized.
• Perform clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, and chart preparation.
• Document insurance verification and patient communications in the medical record.
