Job summary

University of Pittsburgh Physicians is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler to join the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at UPMC Shadyside. Hours are Monday through Friday during daylight hours, with responsibilities across scheduling, admissions, and patient education.

The role involves coordinating with hospital staff, managing pre-operative and postoperative instructions, and ensuring accurate billing and insurance details are in place for each case.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot procedural and operations issues with the department.
• Coordinate and monitor patient follow-up through the Refract Tracker and EPIC.
• Prepare and forward admission reservations/requisitions with demographics and insurance to hospitals.
• Coordinate cases and obtain hospital admissions approvals from hospital personnel.
• Discuss and coordinate financial arrangements prior to surgery including pre-payments.
