Job summary

General Motors seeks Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns to gain hands-on experience and contribute to programs with mechanical expertise across plant operations.

You will learn to lead mechanical projects, assist in tooling construction, and provide technical support to maintenance teams in a real manufacturing environment. Onsite opportunities exist across GM locations, including Detroit, MI, with 2027 start dates for eligible students.

Qualifications

• Pursuing aBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology/Mechatronics.
• Expected graduation between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving.
• Analyze product, process and technology to determine best methods of manufacture.
• Assist in designing and building tools and equipment or propose improvements to existing processes.
• Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
• Lift/carry materials as required and work in a plant environment.
