Job summary

General Motors is seeking Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns to contribute to hands-on projects across plant operations. You will assist in mechanical support for programs and lead mechanical projects with a focus on operations improvements and new or replacement equipment.

The role involves collaborating with maintenance teams, designing tools, and solving technical problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Start dates are May 24th and June 14th, 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechatronics.
• Graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time (40 hours/week).
• Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving.
• Analyze product, process and technology to determine manufacturing methods.
• Assist in design/build of tools or propose process improvements.
• Support maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Troubleshoot maintenance and equipment issues.
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
• Lift or carry materials up to 40 lbs and work in a manufacturing setting.
