Job summary

General Motors invites applications for Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns to work on hands-on projects across plant areas, including operations improvements and new or replacement programs. You will gain experience leading mechanical projects and providing technical support to maintenance staff in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Eligible students should pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, ME, or Mechatronics and be graduating between Aug 2027 and Jun 2029.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics.
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving
• Analyze product, process and technology to figure out the best methods of manufacture
• Assist in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes
• Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment
• Troubleshoot special maintenance and equipment problem
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects
• Lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipment.
