Job summary

General Motors in the United States is seeking Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns to contribute to hands-on projects in plant environments. You will support mechanical programs, learn to lead projects and assist in operations improvements and new and replacement programs.

This internship runs in Summer 2027 at multiple GM facilities, with onsite work in locations including Spring Hill, TN. Candidates pursuing Bachelors in Mechanical Eng/Mechatronics and graduating 2027–2029 are invited to

Qualifications

Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Mechatronics.
Graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving.
Analyze product, process and technology to figure out the best methods of manufacture.
Assist in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes.
Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
Troubleshoot special maintenance and equipment problem.
Coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
Lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically carry or lift materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
Occasionally sit, climb (including ladders and lifts) and drive vehicles and equipment.
