Job summary

General Motors is offering Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Intern positions that provide hands‑on experience in plant operations, tool and equipment design, and maintenance support. Interns will work on mechanical root cause analyses and project coordination across multiple plant areas.

Relocation stipends may be provided for eligible students selected for the 2027 Student Program. Start dates include May 24 and June 14, 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics.
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full‑time, 40 hours per week.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving.
• Analyze product, process and technology to figure out the best methods of manufacture.
• Assist in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes.
• Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
• Troubleshoot special maintenance and equipment problem.
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
