Job summary

General Motors is seeking Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns for hands-on work that could impact the company’s culture and bottom line. You’ll gain experience leading mechanical projects across plant areas, with exposure to operations improvements and new/replacement programs, including support and direction to technical staff.

This internship offers onsite work, relocation stipend eligibility, and a May/June 2027 start window.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving.
• Analyze product, process and technology to determine best methods of manufacture.
• Assist design and building of tools and equipment or suggest improvements to existing processes.
• Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.
• Troubleshoot maintenance and equipment problems.
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
• Lift or carry materials up to 15 pounds, up to 40 pounds on occasion.
• Occasionally sit, climb ladders, drive vehicles and equipment.
