Job summary

General Motors is seeking Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns for hands-on work across plant areas, including operations improvements and new/replacement programs. You will lead mechanical projects and provide technical support to maintenance personnel in a live production environment.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, graduating Aug 2027–Jun 2029, and available to work full-time in a plant setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics/Mechatronics
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment

Responsibilities

• Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving
• Analyze product, process and technology to figure out the best methods of manufacture
• Assist in the design and building of tools and equipment or recommends improvements to existing processes
• Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of specialized equipment
• Troubleshoot special maintenance and equipment problem
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects
• Lift or carry materials weighing up to 15 pounds and periodically up to 40 lbs.
• Occasionally sit, climb ladders, and drive vehicles and equipment.
