Job summary

General Motors is seeking Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns for hands-on work aimed at enhancing plant operations and processes. You will support mechanical programs, learn to lead mechanical projects across various plant areas, and provide technical guidance to maintenance teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on involvement, with opportunities to work on repairs, equipment support, and process improvements in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Mechatronics.
• Graduating between Aug 2027 and Jun 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving.
• Analyze product, process, and technology for manufacturability.
• Assist in design/build of tools and equipment or suggest process improvements.
• Support maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Troubleshoot maintenance and equipment issues.
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
• Lift/carry up to 40 lbs and occasionally sit or climb stairs or ladders.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechatronics
