Job summary

General Motors seeks Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns to provide hands-on mechanical support for programs and operations improvements at multiple plant areas. You will learn to lead mechanical projects while supporting ongoing and replacement programs, including repairs and direction to support personnel.

The role emphasizes hands-on work in a plant setting with safety, teamwork, and strong problem-solving skills required to add value to GM’s manufacturing culture.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics or related field.
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving.
• Analyze product, process and technology to determine methods of manufacture.
• Assist in design/build of tools and equipment; suggest improvements.
• Assist maintenance personnel in operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Troubleshoot special maintenance and equipment problems.
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
• Lift or carry materials up to 15–40 lbs; occasional climbing and driving.
