Job summary

Panasonic Energy of North America in Sparks, NV is offering a full-time paid summer internship for Manufacturing Engineering. You’ll work on high-speed, automated lines at the Gigafactory, applying engineering fundamentals to improve processes and equipment reliability.

Ideal candidates are current full-time students in relevant engineering fields with a 3.2+ GPA, at least two years of university study, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at an accredited four-year college or university.
• GPA of 3.2 or higher.
• Demonstrated experience solving difficult hands-on engineering problems with ability to clearly articulate technical detail and thought process.
• Familiarity with basic lithium-ion battery chemistry.
• Good understanding of basic manufacturing principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
• Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

Responsibilities

• Conduits battery cell manufacturing process improvement for mass production lines.
• Conducts design and testing work for existing production lines to improve cell manufacturing process on safety, quality and productivity.
• Analyzes and evaluates machine and test data.
• Analyzes operating procedures and functions of equipment and machinery to reduce time and cost of manufacturing processes.
• Provides engineering support to production teams to resolve manufacturing process issues.
• Works closely with other team members to increase understanding of failure modes and improve performance of cell manufacturing equipment.
• Applies principles and knowledge of engineering to solve manufacturing problems.
