Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Summer 2027 Arborist Trainee Intern for S. Fort Collins, CO. The role offers hands-on field experience in tree care, plant health care, sales, and client services.

Starting date is flexible for Summer 2027. This is a temporary, full-time position ideal for college students on summer break to gain hands-on field experience. Rate of pay: $22.00 hourly.

Position supports on-site work outdoors with climbing and progression through tree care tasks.

Qualifications

• Interest in outdoor fieldwork and trees.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping or heights preferred.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Pesticide licenses preferred where required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and join a tree crew.
• Progressively learn pruning and removal skills.
• Perform pruning, thinning and removal safely for clients.
• Learn to install cables, bracing and lightning protection.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees and maintain tools.
