The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Summer 2027 Arborist Trainee Intern in Fort Collins, CO. This on-site, full-time internship is ideal for college students seeking hands-on field experience in tree care, plant health care, sales and client services.

Starting date is flexible for Summer 2027. Rate of pay is $22.00 hourly. You’ll join a climbing arborist team and gain practical skills while developing your career with one of the nation’s leading tree-care firms.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and field work.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping or working at heights is preferred.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Ability to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving on hire.
• Preferred: relevant pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and work as part of a tree crew.
• Progressively learn new tree care, pruning and removal skills.
• Perform pruning and removal tasks safely and skillfully for clients.
• Learn to install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts).
• Grow your capabilities as you advance within the team.
