Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Structural Engineer for our Substation department to lead and coordinate design efforts, calculations and field investigations as part of multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires a Civil/Structural ABET degree, SE registration and 4+ years of experience, with knowledge of substation layouts, steel design, and familiarity with design software. Flexible office/field work and client interaction are involved.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil/Structural Engineering degree required.
• Professional SE registration required.
• 4+ years engineering experience preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical utility substation layout and design preferred.
• Understanding of structural steel, drilled piers and spread footing design.
• Experience with MathCAD, STAAD or equivalent modeling software preferred.
• Knowledge of AISC and ACI; ASCE & NESC preferred.
• AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Openness to innovation and AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Applies standard engineering techniques to complete tasks.
• Develops plans, specifications and observation reports.
• Coordinates design aspects and performs detailed engineering design.
• Checks computations and reviews calculations.
• Collaborates with technicians and engineers; may work in office or field.
• Communicates with clients to ensure needs are met.
• May participate in marketing and business development activities.
