Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer for the Substation department. You will plan, coordinate, and perform detailed designs for foundation and structural steel, perform calculations, and provide recommendations.

The role involves collaboration with engineers and technicians, with options to work in office or field. The ideal candidate holds a Civil/Structural ABET degree, SE registration, and at least seven years of experience in power infrastructure, with proficiency in MathCAD/STAAD

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from ABET accredited program.
• Professional Structural Engineer (SE) registration required.
• Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical utility substation layout and design preferred.
• Understanding of structural steel, drilled pier & spread footing design and detailing required.
• Experience with MathCAD, STAAD or equivalent, foundation design programs, and/or other structural modeling software.
• Knowledge of AISC, and ACI required, ASCE & NESC preferred.
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred.
• Proven experience in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
• Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows.

Responsibilities

• Applies current engineering techniques to complete tasks.
• Develops plans, specifications, and reports for project quality.
• Performs design calculations and checks.
• Coordinates design aspects with other disciplines.
• May work in office or field and provide field observations.
• Prepare reports and correspondence on project direction.
• Collaborate with technicians and engineers to resolve design problems.
