Job summary

United Grid Solutions seeks an engineer to provide substation protection and control design, engineering, and technical support for a transmission substation team, including battery energy storage and solar substations. You will deliver safe, cost-effective, and high-quality engineering services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from ABET-accredited program or equivalent evaluation
• 0–2 years’ experience as a practicing engineer
• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles

Responsibilities

• Understand protection and control fundamentals for substation and transmission equipment
• Design protection schemes for bus, line, capacitor and transformer equipment
• Understand SCADA communication design
• Develop understanding of protection and control design up to 500 kV (one lines, three lines, schematics, layouts)
• Perform studies and create reports for coordination, voltage drop, fault current, insulation coordination
• Perform calculations using client-specified software and standards
• Interpret specifications and implement them on engineering drawings
• Check designs for accuracy, appearance, and adherence to customer standards
• Collaborate with other design disciplines
• Visit sites and advise on P&C issues during construction
