Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking an Substation Protection & Control Engineer to provide design, engineering, technical support, and oversight for transmission substation projects, including battery energy storage and solar substations.

You will develop protection schemes, understand SCADA design, perform coordination studies, and ensure designs meet customer standards through site visits and cross-discipline collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET-accredited or equivalent)
• 0–2 years’ engineering experience
• Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles

Responsibilities

• Understand protection and control fundamentals for substation and transmission equipment
• Design protection schemes for bus, line, capacitor and transformer equipment
• Understand SCADA communication design and integration
• Develop understanding of 500kV substation/ transmission line facilities and associated schematics
• Perform studies and create reports for coordination, voltage drop, fault current, and insulation coordination
• Interpret specifications and implement on engineering drawings
• Check designs for accuracy and adherence to standards
• Collaborate with other design disciplines and visit sites for field input
