Job summary

HDR Engineering is seeking a Substation Project Manager to lead Substation projects within a national Power Delivery team. The role involves managing projects of varying sizes domestically and potentially abroad, collaborating with design teams, and driving project execution and QA/QC under HDR quality standards.

The position requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field, at least 7 years of project management experience, and strong communication and organizational

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 7 years related experience.
• FE/PE license preferred; PMP in lieu of PE accepted.
• Experience with system projection and planning, distribution and transmission lines, plus public involvement and environmental permitting.
• Ability to collaborate with design teams and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage substation projects across the full life cycle from scope to closeout.
• Lead and mentor project engineers, EITs, coordinators, designers, and staff.
• Oversee workload, schedule, quality, utilization, morale and performance.
• Oversee non-engineering components like public engagement, permitting and real estate acquisition when applicable.
• Lead QA/QC per HDR Quality Management Systems to exceed client expectations.
• Support client management and regional business development activities.
• Coordinate with leadership and Talent Acquisition to grow project teams.
• Possibly work with staff in multiple offices and assist in marketing and proposals.
