Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to work on projects for electric utilities, with voltages from 12kV to 500kV. The role involves digital logic design, AC/DC circuit analysis, and delivering substation drawings and BOMs. A Bachelor’s in electrical engineering is required, with 6+ years for senior roles and PE/EI preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• Senior/Lead level requires 6+ years of substation physical design experience; PE licensing or EI certification preferred.
• Experience with grounding studies/lightning protection and lighting studies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Execute substation physical design projects and read/produce one-line, three-line, plan-section drawings, foundations, grounding drawings.
• Create and check bill of materials for substation physical projects.
• Attend site visits at customer locations to verify designs and gather field data.
• Meet deadlines under pressure while collaborating with project teams.
