Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to lead and support high-impact substation physical design projects. You will work on 12 kV–500 kV systems, applying expertise in digital logic and AC/DC circuits to develop safe layouts and grounding strategies.

Ideal candidates will have a PE license, 4+ years of experience, and strong communication skills to coordinate with clients and internal teams. This hybrid role may involve travel to project sites and client locations within the United

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Senior level requires 8+ years in substation physical design.
• Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection analysis, and lighting studies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the delivery of substation physical design projects, ensuring technical excellence and on-time performance.
• Partner with internal engineering groups and external clients to understand needs and deliver solutions that meet standards.
• Perform QA/QC reviews on substation design packages for accuracy and constructability.
• Read, design, and review substation drawings (one-lines, three-lines, plan-and-section, grounding layouts).
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation components.
• Conduct site visits to gather data and validate designs.
