Job summary

Leidos seeks a Substation Physical Engineer to design and implement substation projects for utilities 12kV to 500kV. Hybrid work includes 2-3 days in-person at Houston and other offices, with remote days available.

You will read, design, and validate substation drawings, BOMs, and calculations while coordinating with clients and internal teams. Senior/Lead applicants bring 6+ years’ experience and deliver leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, or related field with 2+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Senior/Lead level requires 6+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
• Strong communication skills to interact with internal teams and clients.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure and work in a team.
• Willingness to travel to project or client sites.

Responsibilities

• Experience in executing substation physical projects.
• Read and design substation drawings such as one-line, three-line, plan-section, foundation, grounding.
• Create and check bill of materials for substation physical.
• Attend site visits at customer locations.
• Perform quality control checks on substation physical design projects.
• Collaborate with teams to meet project needs.
