Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Substation Engineer II - Physical to join our electric substation design team.

You will design multiple projects from 12kV to 500kV, applying NESC, NEC, and IEEE standards and developing plans, elevations, and cable routing. This role involves field data interpretation, reports, and construction documents with guidance from senior staff, advancing toward greater independence across concurrent projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 2–5 years of relevant substation or power engineering experience.
• Ability to apply engineering principles to real-world design problems with limited supervision.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities

• Support execution of substation physical design projects with guidance from senior staff.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated design packages.
• Prepare substation physical design deliverables including layouts and cable routing plans.
• Apply engineering principles to analyze field data and develop practical design solutions.
• Perform studies like grounding design and lightning protection evaluation for safe operation.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines to ensure alignment across all design elements.
• Communicate with clients and stakeholders to relay technical information.
