Job summary

Westwood Professional Services is seeking a Substation Engineer II - Physical to join our electric substation design team in Minnesota. You will design projects ranging from quick-turn to large substations from 12kV to 500kV, applying NESC, NEC, IEEE, and ASCE standards.

You will independently perform analyses, develop plans and specifications, and assist in material procurement and construction documents, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience in substation or related power engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles with limited supervision.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities

• Support the execution of substation physical design projects with guidance from senior staff, contributing to scope, schedule, and deliverables.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to develop integrated substation design packages.
• Prepare substation physical design deliverables including general arrangements, plan/elevation views, equipment layouts, and cable routing.
