Job summary

Westwood Professional Services is seeking a Substation Lead Engineer - Physical to manage design of multiple substations from 12kV to 500kV, applying NESC, NEC, and IEEE standards. You will act as Engineer of Record and oversee technical reviews, guiding engineers and drafters to deliver compliant, constructible designs.

This role requires 6+ years in substation design, ABET-accredited degree, and a PE license, with strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate across disciplines and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 6+ years of experience in substation physical design engineering.
• Strong knowledge of NESC, NEC, IEEE, ASCE standards and client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee substation physical design across multiple projects, owning scope and deliverables.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) with PE stamping of deliverables.
• Guide engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure standards and quality.
• Provide technical leadership for layouts, grounding, and equipment routing.
• Develop design approaches and make final technical decisions on station configuration.
