Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in California is seeking a Substation Engineer Intern to join a project team in our Grid business unit. You will assist senior engineers on projects involving transmission, substation, distribution, renewable, and battery energy storage systems.

Under supervision, you will help prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs; track project activities and progress; and assist in procuring major electrical power equipment and related installation services.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering with preference for EE/ME/Aero/Chem or related coursework including coding and 3D modeling.
• Familiarity with design techniques for plans, drawings, and models; ability to visualize 3D parts without a computer.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Work on project reporting, tracking progress and data related to activities.
• Be involved in power designs and the preparation of procurement specifications for major electrical equipment and installation services.
